Artsy Malacca；アートな世界マラッカ

Malacca in Malaysia is pretty artsy everywhere, especially, the center of town. 

There are tons of art galleries,

マラッカはマレーシアの中でも結構アーティスティックな場所。

繁華街のいたるところにあるアートギャラリーは、アーティストとしてのアンテナを刺激してくれました。

Riverside is really beautiful :)) 

I just went into one art center near the Dutch Plaza, 

The exhibition was by some students from architecture and creative art major. 

ふと入った、美術館。

なにやら生徒の作品が展示されているようで。

This is my favorite.

This was really inspiring. I want to make some sort of art like this. 

I know I have been a bit far from inspirational days and paintings. 

I need to start doing it again to keep myself to be just enough artistic as I  was before. 

The artistic feeling needs effort to keep yourself into the loop in my opinion. 

I used to create many patterns and draw out of nothing, but then I stop doing it. Once you stop the activity, it's really hard to get inspired(maybe not the really talented artists). So for me, I need to keep myself into the those atmosphere of art and touch with arts everyday to come up with creative patterns and drawings. 

Maybe I need to make one of my day as creative day to try creating a new design and looking for inspirational stuff. 

自分をアーティスティックな状態に保つって、結構努力がいること。

昔絵を良く描いていたときはぽんぽんと、次のデザインとかでてきたのに、あまり時間がなく、モチベーションも下がっている今、全くデザインとか浮かばなくなってしまった。

だからこそ、私は常に自分をアートの存在に浸しておかないといけないんだとまた改めて実感。

アートって、そうとう才能のある人じゃないと、ぽんぽん出てこないわけで、

私みたいな平凡な女の子は自分で努力して、常にアーティスティックな状況下に自分を置いておかないといけないのだ。

The Artsy cafe "Calanthe Art Cafe". The first cafe I want everyone to stop by in Malacca.

I didn't taste their food but their coffee is pretty good and a lot of variety.

It was quite cute and well decorated inside. 

カランセカフェっていうちょーーーーかわいい、アーティスティックなカフェ！中国人が運営してんのか、むっちゃ中国人（てか中国系マレーじん？）しか働いてなさそうだった。

すごくかわいいカフェで、ダウンタウンのど真ん中にあるから、ぜひ、マラッカにいったひとには言ってほしいカフェ！！

The couch surfer and his friend that we just came across while we were walking. 

We chatted like an hour and half? 

I love this kinda random thing that you just came across someone you kinda know and say like Hi and talk like hours. 

This is the best of traveling alone.  

This is why I tell everyone to go to travel ALONE. 

You will meet TONS of people if you go alone. 

その日一緒に行動したカウチサーファー

同じく旅人で、その旅人君の友達？しってるひとがカフェに居た。

へーイとかいいながら結局３人で１時間半くらいだべりまくりで。

これが一人旅の醍醐味だよ。

ちょっと知ってる人にすれ違って、ぎゃあぎゃあ結局何時間も話しちゃうっていう。

なんて最高なんだ。

だからみんな私の友達に、

旅は一人で行けっていってんの。

Orangutan House

They sell funny t-shirts. 

When I saw the word "Orangutan House" on the guide book, I seriously thought I can see real Orangutan in there. 

of Course not. LOL

But they have a lot of funny and artsy handmade t-shirts that almost made me feel wanna buy it. (budged... budged) 

オラウータンハウスとガイドブックに書いてあるから、まじかオラウータンがみれるのか！っていったらt-shirts屋だった。

なんや、ま、そりゃそうか。

と納得。

もうちょっとで買おうかなと思わせるあやうく大出費になるところを友達の一言でつれもどされた。

明日香、いくよって言われてよかった。

Historical Malacca City: 歴史的なマラッカの街

So came down to Malacca on June 26th. 

Went around the sightseeing for a bit. 

This is Porta de Santiago. 

It was fortress built by Portuguese. 

It's over 300 years ago. 

It's incredible how they still keep it so neatly. 

I was walking this place with thinking some people died here to protect the town... 

It's crazy. I'm on the same ground where all history is accumulated .

It's not only here but also any historical places in the world that are "must-go". 

I want all travelers to feel the history that you are walking the same ground where all histories  are accumulated. 

Some people just take pictures and satisfied... :/ it's sad. 

観光自体はあまりすきではないけども、一応来たからには観光名所くらい見とくかと、観光してきました！

ポルトデサンティアゴという砦。

昔ポルトガルに占領されていたマラッカならではのポルトガルの建築様式。

きれいに残ってるもんだよね。

これが３００年前からあるんだよ？すごいよね。時代を超えて。

ここで死んだ人もたくさん居るんだろうなーって考えながら歩いてきた。

別に人種差別してるわけではないけど、特に中国人の旅行者って写真むっちゃ取ることがいいことみたいに、ひとつの観光場所占領するくらいの勢いで写真取ってるけど。。。なんか間違ってないかなーー。ま、それがその人たちにとってはいいならそれで、いいんだけど。

The famous Dutch Plaza in the center o downtown. 

This is where all trishaw people (the bicycle taxi) will talk to you. It's sometimes annoying to be yelled by them like "Konnichiwa, Ni-hao, Anyohaseyo". 

They know how to catch Asian travelers lol 

マラッカの中心にある、有名なオランダ広場。

トライショーという、自転車の後ろに荷台をつけて、観光客を乗せてはしるやつ、あのおじさんたちがうるさいところです。

上の写真は結構朝だから、まだ人そんなに居なかったけど、夕方とかすごいよ。↓

たまにトライショーでもスピーカーとか付けて、音楽がんがん鳴らしてるのいるからね。

暴走族かっ。

The photo above is in the early morning like 8am so there are not many people in Dutch plaza. But then during daytime like 1pm, it will be like this　↓

So many tryshow cars. And they are really, seriously annoying. 

Got into one Art Museum. 

Malacca is quite Artsy compared with other cities in Malaysia. There are so many Art Gallerias. 

たまたま入った美術館。なんだか、どこかしらの生徒の絵とか、建築のモデルとか飾ってた。

きれいでしょ？マラッカの川。

下をのぞくと、そんなにきれいな川ではないことがわかるので、このへんで。笑

Beautiful river side in Malacca. 

But if you look down the river, it's not really so take photo of river side one step back from the bridge. lol

Chinatown! 

When I came to Malacca, I was just so surprised how many Chinese traveler& Local people are here. Literally, if you speak Chinese, you have no problem to go around SE Asia. That's kinda how I felt.

そういえば、このごろ知った。

チャイナタウンって、日本語で中華街やんね。どうもこの二つの言葉がつながらずに悩んでたら友達に突っ込まれた。

マラッカに来たときに思ったこと。

中国人の多さといったらありゃしないよ。

中国語できたら、東南アジアのたびも順調だよ。まったく。

Doesn't this look like Japanese town ? 下町みたいじゃないですか？

Chinese temple. 

I remember I learned some of those stories from China when I was in high school. 

なんか、昔古典の授業でこういうひとたちの話学んだなーーとおもいながらも思い出せず終わるという。

The greatest Body Builder is from Malacca. 

このいかついおじさん、マラッカから出たボディービルダーらしいっす。

This view reminded me of Japanese towns. It's like this.

I was about to get in without wearing the blue clothes. I was wearing short pants and tank top lol  

Someone inside was telling me something from all over there, and I was like... what? 

but Yes, you have to respect culture.

イスラム教のお寺は肌を露出してはいけません。

そのため、中央に少しだけ見えるあのブルーの雨がっぱみたいなのを 着なくちゃいけないの。

でも、それをかんがえずにミニパンとタンクトップでずかずかはいったら怒られた。

すんまちぇん。

I met up with one csfer and we went to the famous(?) local restaurant"--88". I forgot the name of it but it had the number 88 on it.

The food was really good. The right side is laksa (Malaysian spicy noodle) and seafood noodle on the left side.

有名なのか、友達につれてきたもらった地元レストラン。

おいぴかった。

私は辛いのたべられないから、ラクサという地元料理はあんまりすきじゃないのね。（あの右のもろに辛そうな赤いやつ）

なので海鮮ヌードルかった。

おでんみたいだったよ！

What is good in Malacca is views and food. At night, it's beautiful with lights all over the town and food is just yummy and  cheap. 

マラッカのいいところは、夜景（景色もきれいだけども）、と食べもん。

とりあえず、うまい、やすい、きれい。一番旅でほしい３拍子。

This was maritime Museum. Somehow costs 8RM.... what... 

but it was okay inside... 

海洋博物館に８リンギットもとられた。

高いうえに、なんじゃこりゃっていう中身？

このどでか船に金をかけすぎたのでは？

see the sightseeing itself is a bit boring. Not much to write but a lot of pictures. 

The sightseeing following a traveling book is just boring as much as just reading a traveling guide. 

This is why I meet people to talk and go around. 

okay next blog entry should be a bit more interesting! haha

A Book to Read "Self-thinking": 読書「自分思考」

I somehow came across to this book about a year ago and bought it through Asahiya book store in LA. I haven't read it yet and brought it to Singapore. 

I finally read it. I wanted to read when I wanna read.

 So I just waited until this moment. It took long time to take this book in my hand even though it was right in front of me always. 

But I think I chose the right moment to read. 

It certainly told to my heart something that I didn't think of and kinda forgot for a long time. 

今日「自分思考」という本を読み終えた。読み始めてから４時間くらいで読み終えた。日本語は基本的に早く速読できるし、そんなに読むのは大儀ではないけど、それでも手にとって読むまでに時間がかかった。

LAから取り寄せて、まだ自分がOhioにいるときに買ったのにもかかわらず、読まずにシンガポールまで持ってくるはめになってしまったけど、自分が読みたい！っておもう時期をまってた。

それが今日だった。

正しい読み方をしたと思う。

おかげでいまいろいろ心がうずいてる。

どうしようどうしようっていう感じ。

いい意味で。

Eriko Yamaguchi is a bit different person with other typical Japanese people who took an action by following her heart. 

She questioned how the donations are helping developing countries so she went to see the reality in Bangladesh. She stayed there for two years by searching, trying and failing and trying again to help poor people in Bangladesh. Because she felt that the government help is not going through every poor people. It's just A PART of tons who can get an aid and get supported from FDI(Foreign Direct Investment). 

Later She established the brand called "Motherhouse" which now spread all over the world. 

It's a brand from Bangladesh. 

Later on she also established the brand for Nepal. 

She has been trying, challenging, failing, learning and going up to another step in her life.

山口絵理子さんは自分の心の声を聞いて、それにしたがって歩いた人です。

自分たちが寄付する募金とかって本当に届いてるのっていう疑問を元に、バングラデッシュに実際にいって、生活をしてみて、答えを見出した人です。

彼女はのちにマザーハウスというバングラデッシュ初のブランドを作りました。

いろんな試行錯誤と、失敗とそれでも挑戦し続ける姿勢の元、彼女は日本全国ならず、世界に羽ばたくブランドを作り上げました。

She said that 

- Listen to what your heart is saying and follow your heart. 

-I didn't quit because that was what I decided.

-I appreciate the failure that I made and trouble that I encountered because that's why I got to where I am. The all failures eventually lead me to where I am. 

-There are always way to make money. If I fail on this business, I could always work as part time and save money. it's not like I'm gonna be as poor as people in Bangladesh. They are even poorer than when we are poor. 

彼女が言ったことは、私が今まで読んできた本と似ていたかもしれないけど、私が知ってるはずだったこと、でも忘れていたことだった。

（著作権の問題も考慮して私なりの解釈の言葉でここに書いているので、この言葉がそのまま彼女の本に書いてあるわけではありません）

「自分の心の声に従ってほしい。本当に心からやりたいこと、ほしいことに。」

「自分がやるって決めたことだから、やめなかった。」

「自分が犯した間違いも、悲しくも起こってしまった裏切りも、すべてに感謝している。それがなければ今の私はないから。」

「これが失敗してもまたバイトしてお金なんて稼ぐことはできるし、たとえおかねがなくなってもそれはこの国の人たちほどの貧しさではないから。」

I have been reading those books since I got into the university so some of them was something I already new. Not many things were new but this book certainly reminded me where I wanted to go before. 

Surprising thing is if you are living in the developed country where everything is organized, punctual, and clean, it's kinda easy to forget where I wanted to go. 

Like I said before, Singapore is really similar with Japan. 

When I'm here, I just forget how I'm blessed to have all of these things that I have. 

Just living in the developed country, especially Singapore and Japan where you don't really see any poor and disable people (they are either hiding or not here), easily takes your awareness out from your daily life. 

I forgot what I wanted to do in my life. 

I still don't know my ultimate goal or mission in my life. 

I don't know what I was born for.

 I don't know my life mission as Asuka. 

But I want to find it. This is why I'm here. 

And that was what I have been forgotten for a long time. 

After getting a job in a big company, and going to be a member of them. 

Everywhere I go, everyone knows my company and say "oh you are working at OOO, that's great" 

Everyone say that. 

The compliment can satisfy me in some way but cannot last that long because it's just a happiness on surface. 

This is not what I want. 

I need to find what I want in my life. 

Today, I'm going to buy a sketchbook to write and keep myself aware about my life and buy a letter set to write a letter to this author. 

In the right moment, I read this book. I really appreciate this good-timing-coincidence in my life. 

Of course, I still don't know what I want in my life but I should never been unaware about where I am and keep seeking what I want.

シンガポールは日本と似てるって前も言ったように、本当に似てるんだ。

きれい、時間通り、いろんな環境があなたのために用意されてるっていう状況。

そういう恵まれた環境でずっといると、すっかり世界がどうとかわすれちゃうの。

私の会社も大手企業だからどこにいっても、人は会社の名前しってて、すごいねーって言われて。

そうやってほめられる気持ちってのはうれしいというよりも、一時期しか満たしてくれないうれしさ。

そして、これだけ恵まれてるから、なにもかもが快適で、私の人生の目的とかもすぐにわすれちゃう。

毎日パーティしてたのしくって、それで立ち止まるとあれ？私何がしたかったんだっけって。

今回この本を読んで、あれ？私なんか、シンガポールにきてからおちついちゃって、他の方向にいってないか？って自問自答した。

やっぱり本は読みたいときに読むもんだって思った。

読みたいときによんだからこそ、こういうふうに自分の人生に気づけたんだ。

Columbian National Day + Salsa night out コロンビア記念の日＋サルサダンスへ

A bit update about my life in Singapore. 

My roommate introduced me her friend who also love clubbing and salsa dance.

シンガポール情報更新です。

私のいっしょにすんでる方が、サルサとナイトクラブが大好きな人を紹介してくださったので、来てからというもの、一緒にパーティをしてます♪

クラブ仲間が見つかってうれしい明日香ちゃんです。

シンガポール、驚いたことに、サルサダンス結構人気。

アジア人がサルサダンスを踊ってるところなんていままでみたことなかったから、すごくおもしろかった。やっぱり踊れる男性はかっこいい！

It's kinda surprising how salsa dance is popular in Singapore. It was a different impression to see Asian people dancing salsa like a boss lol 

In my life, I don't think I have ever seen this many Asian people dancing salsa dance.

In my philosophy, the guys who can dance is amazingly handsome. 

タンジョンパガーというなんか面白い名前の駅の近くにあるユニオンスクエアっていうサルサバー。

夜が始まると結構人が集まってきました。

はじめはプロの先生たちが踊ってて、すっげーすっげーってむっちゃ興奮してたら、みんなも踊り始めたので私も合流♪

メキシコから来てるクンビアという曲が流れたときは

テンションマックスでした。

So we went to a salsa club Union Square in Tanjong Pagar. 

Union Square seems pretty jammed once the night starts. 

At first there are many professional people (they are latin dance teachers) dancing on the stage, then it got more people dancing. 

when cumbia song started, my happiness also skyrocketed :P 

Night out was really fun as usual. I'm going to practice salsa more. By the time I get to Mexico in 2014, I will be a master of salsa :P haha 

 ちょーたのしかったです。シンガポールに居る間にサルサ踊りまくってやろ。２０１４年にメキシコに行くまでにさるさマスターしてやるぅぅー！

Local Night Market (Malacca, Malaysia) マラッカにて地元夜市

One of my friend in Malacca is the professional for the local food and secretive local beauty. 

So of course, he took me to everywhere. This is the good thing about CS(Couch Surfing). It's a travelers' network to get to know other travelers and locals.

This is an amazing community that you can experience locals more than just traveling. 

In this traveling Malaysia, I just devote to spend my time for getting know people (locals) more than just sightseeing. Sight seeing is too boring compared with hanging out and meeting with new people. 

Anyways, here is a night market in Malacca. Local market. I haven't seen any tiny bit foreigners yet here. 

カウチサーフィンというのを皆さんご存知ですか。

旅の間にホテルのかわりにひとんちのカウチ（ソファー）に寝かせてもらうというもの。

もちろんお金など一切なし。

でもそんな他人をいきなり会った人を寝かせてあげるわけだから、ホストの方たちにわかってもらえるような信頼されるようなプロフィールを書かなければならないし、人からの評価というのもしてもらえるから、それで、自分の評価を付けてもらって、信頼度を上げたり、できるのです。

私の今回のマレーシアの旅、観光をすっかり忘れて、新しい人とあったり、カウチサーフィンで知り合った人と遊んだりして、２週間半が過ぎていきました。

とりあえず、最初の経由地点マラッカから。

これもカウチサーフィンでしりあった、地元民の男の子と一緒にいろいろまわってて、彼がほとんど連れてってくれた！いまでもチョー仲良しでまた彼に会いに、マラッカに帰ろうって思ってます。ま、どうせバスで６時間くらいだから、またいこう！って。

Just so cheap. All foods are like 1 RM to at most 5 RM. You can literally live in your life with less than $7 for a week in Malacca.

Not only cheap but really delicious and a lot of  variety in the food in Malacca. 

It is amazing how many kinds of food they have. I don't even remember what the name of food that I ate in Malacca. My friend just order for me. This is the good thing about CS. I don't speak either Mandarin or Malay but I got around because I was always with CS member who knows either language. 

マラッカのいいところ、安くておいしい食事がたくさん！ちょっと脂っこいし、気をつけないとすぐに太るような食事だけど、アメリカほど体に悪いということじゃないから。アメリカの食事は、あれは健康侵害だけど、マラッカの食事は基本的にちゃんと新鮮な食材をつかってあるから。

しかも種類豊富でわたしも何をかって、何を食べたのか覚えてないくらい。

そこかカウチサーフィンのいいところ。
わたしは中国語もマレー語もしゃべれないけど、基本的に地元民といっつもつるんでるから、彼らが選んでくれてオーダーしてくれるんだよ。

なんかこれも名前が良くわからないたべもの。
あまくしたもち米みたいなのをおにぎりにしたかんじ。
いっつもこういうふうにバナナの葉っぱで包んであるんだよ。

It was not only Singaporian but Malaysian too who love sweets. 

Everything I buy was sweet in Singapore. When I bought a bottle of green tea, I was so disappointed that it was sweeten way too much.

Now in Malaysia, yes people loves sweets here too. Those cakes are, of course, better sweetness than American cakes but still sweet. I think one small tiny piece is actually enough for me.

シンガポールに居たときに、日本語で「緑茶」ってかいてあるお茶をコンビニでかったら、びっくりするぐらい、ってか落胆するくらい甘かった。なんで緑茶が甘いねんっ！ってつっこみたかったけど、あとから友達に聞くとシンガポールは結構いろいろなもんが甘いんやと。

ところで、マレーシアも相当あまいでな。
このケーキ、一番右端にあるちょっとのカケラ食べただけでも、もう水ほしいなっておもうくらいやった。
薄味、薄アマの日本人にはこれはちょっと甘すぎるかも。

Finally what I got is rice noodle thing and the other noodle with fried carrot? I still need to ask my friend what was this. But both of those are like 2RM so my dinner is even less than a US dollar. Whata amazing place lol 

なんかこれもあ良くわからんものかってもらった。
ライスヌードルとよぶふよふよのひらべったいヌードルとやさい。
見てわかるように結構ソース漬けだからカロリーも高いと思うのね。でもやすいから。
これ全部でも８０円くらいだよ。

Later my friend took me to drive around the city. 

According to my friend, this bright sign was build these days. 

I kinda think that was necessary to be bright in this way. Because the traffic in Malaysia (literally in any big cities) is really bad. I thought Mexico is bad. No way, I think people in Malaysia drive better than Mexicans (sorry, mis amigos en Mexico,  I had to say this. jaja) but the amount of car in KL and Malacca especially during trafficky time is ridiculous.

マレーシアに来て思うこと。
やはり交通手段はバイクか、車。
なので、交通渋滞がすごい。
どこいっても車車車で。

メキシコ行ったときに、この渋滞やべぇーっておもってたけど、東南アジアの方がすごかった。
聞いたところによるとベトナムはもっとすごいらしいから、楽しみにしとこーー
メキシコ人よりもマレーシアの人の方が車の運転はうまいとはおもうけど、（メキシコは免許はお金払えばもらえるのだ）交通量が半端ないーー

The beauty of Malacca is night view. I think this is what government did but in the city, there are always constantly lights everywhere. (like this pic) The most lights are blue or red, so the lights creates the beautiful but also illusionish night view.　マラッカに来て何がきれいって、夜景！たぶん、地元の政府がなにかしてるんだろうけど、どこにいっても、この写真のように赤いライトとか、ところによっては青いライトがきらきらしてて、等間隔でおいてあるから、またこれきれい。

歩いてると、千と千尋をおもいだしたよ。
